AboutBorn in Maine and raised on a farm 45 minutes west of Portland, ME, I found my way to Burlington, Vermont to complete my undergraduate education in Civil/Environmental Engineering at the University of Vermont. The cumulative impact of attending UVM, living in Vermont and working for Hurricane Island Outward Bound School (HIOBS) inspired my love for community (both groups of people and physical places), which likely set me on a path to later pursue a Master's Degree in Community and Regional Planning. Exploring Vermont, meeting new people at HIOBS, living with college friends, and traveling in pristine wilderness all helped cement my love for places.
After moving to Oregon for graduate school, moving back to Vermont for work, and finally moving back to Oregon again permanently, I enjoy exploring new cities via transit, getting to know Oregon places in the Mid Willamette Valley, and riding my mountain bike as much as possible. Why Fermented Urbanism? Well, first I love sourdough (which is fermented) and a good portion of the content should be bread focused. Second, the idea of the website is capture thoughts and reflections, which take time to develop the same as...fermention! And of course it's generally all about urbanism. So there ya go. |
